Looking for work as an older person was daunting for Darlynn Meguiar until she joined the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) run by Sacramento’s ACC Senior Services.

"I had been looking for jobs and was feeling very defeated, and I did feel that my age was an issue," Darlynn says.

SCSEP helped assess Darlynn’s goals and abilities, then coached her on how to improve her skills. With the program’s help, she landed a job with the California Department of Social Services.

"I felt like my intake person almost knew me better than I did," says Darlynn, 62. "She did a great job drawing out of me what my skills are and what to work on."

SCSEP embodies the state’s ongoing commitment to empowering older Californians.
