C4A – the California Association of Area Agencies on Aging – Annual Meetng and Allied Conference
WHAT:
Mapping the Future of Aging and Disability Services in California is the theme of the 2023 annual conference of the California Association of Area Agencies on Aging, also known as C4A.
WHEN:
Tuesday, May 9 through Thursday, May 11
WHERE:
Hilton Los Angeles North Glendale
100 Glenoaks Boulevard
Glendale, California
WHO:
Policy, academic, and program leaders and experts on aging from throughout California, along with C4A leaders and members.
WHY:
Approximately nine million adults aged 60+ currently call California home. By 2030, Californians 60 and older will comprise one-quarter of the state’s population. C4A advocates for older adults and adults with disabilites on issues ranging from nutrition to caregiving to transportation and more. The statewide network of 33 Area Agencies on Aging provides clients with services critical to help older adults age in place, in their homes and communities, as long as possible.
May is also Older Californians Month, when we recognize and celebrate older adults and the contributions they have made and continue to make to California.
HOW:
Leaders in aging will learn about trends, research, and strategies around key issues that affect older adults, such as adaptive technology, nutrition, disaster preparedness, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, housing, long-term care, elder abuse, assisted living, homelessness, Medicare, volunteerism, and the California Master Plan for Aging.
A screening of the documentary "All the Lonely People," highlighting people who were isolated and found ways to reduce their isolation, is on Wednesday, May 10.
