The Older Californians Nutrition Program has adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic by reinventing and expanding nutrition services to meet the needs of older Californians:

  • Over 26 million meals served in Fiscal Year 2021-22.
  • Expanding meal services to provide breakfast, weekend meals, or second meals in addition to regular daily meals.
  • Transforming congregate meal programs to include in-person as well as To-Go meal options.
  • Establishing new contracts with meal vendors and restaurants to expand capacity and meet dining and cultural food preferences of older adults.
  • Promoting social connections through in-person and virtual interactions.
